The Golden State

California here we come...

California takes up most of the west coast, because it has to. There is too much good stuff in California to be contained in a smaller state. And you can experience it all in so many different ways. Roadtrip down the iconic Highway 101 and feel the climate change from nice to nicer. Ski Big Bear in the morning and then finish the day with an ocean swim in Malibu. Drive for miles into the desert only to find yourself in the forest by the end of the day. It sounds like a dream, right? That California Dreaming song is no joke.

840 miles of coastline to do whatever you want with.

California is bigger than it's coastline though - with mountains and desert to explore as you head east from the 101. Northern California has quaint historical mining towns tucked into the surrounding hillsides, and Southern California provides lush high-desert oases mixed with hot springs and endless horizons. Ever heard of Coachella? That's here. Like your weekends to feel adventurous? There are mile of sand and a single dune buggy with your name on it. Love Point Break? Surf's up, Brody.

Whatever you can think of, you can find it in Cali.

Just Take Your Pick.

Featured Cities

Locals just call it "The City," tourists add "By The Bay." Whatever you call it, you'll love San Francisco, one of the most iconic cities in California. 13 weeks won't be enough time to soak in all the culture that the Bay Area has to offer, but you can try. Watch out for that streetcar, though.

Just reading the words Napa Valley probably made you think of warm days and cool evenings, touring vineyards and wineries on weekends and enjoying the sun slowly setting behind the mountains. Luckily, all that stuff is what can actually happens in Napa Valley. It's not just a clever marking gimmick.

Saying you live in Los Angeles is like saying you "like all types of music." You're going to have to be a little more specific. Fortunately, you can live in just about any setting in LA: Sleepy Santa Monica, Happening Hermosa Beach, or Mellow Malibu. And the traffic? It's not a problem: just get all zen about it and make your car your temple.

If farmer's markets, drum circles, and poetry slams are things that sounds good to you, then you need to head to Arcata. Home of Humboldt university, a progressive younger population, and all the outdoor fun you can handle. The amount of travelers and college students that pass through there will keep you on your toes, too.
